Highlights of Solar and Geomagnetic Activity
02 - 08 December 2024

Solar activity reached high levels on 08 Dec when Region 3912 (S07, Click on link below
L=80, class/area=Dai/220 on 07 Dec) produced an impulsive X2.2/2b to read the full weekly
flare at 08/0906 UTC; the largest event of the period. Associated http://services.swpc.noaa.gov/text/weekly.txt
with the X2.2 flare was a Castelli-U radio burst, a 870 sfu
Tenflare, and a 360 sfu Type-II radio sweep. Regions 3912 and 3917
(S07, L=09, class/area=Dac/210 on 08 Dec) produced the bulk of the
M-class flares (R1-Minor events) observed over the course of the
week. No Earth-directed CMEs were detected as a result of this National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration logo

week's activity.

No proton events were observed at geosynchronous orbit.

The greater than 2 MeV electron flux at geosynchronous orbit was at
normal to moderate levels throughout the period.

Highlights November 2024

The solar activity in November2024 was a month with lower numbers than October.
Largest regions were 3883 (FKC), 3886 (FKI), 3889 (FKI), 3905 (EKI), 3906 (EKC), 3910 (DKO)
.

Several flares also appeared in November.
Region 3883 produced a powerful X2.3-flare on the 6th November.

The total list of SSG can be found at https://www.cv-helios.net/specialreports/regionlisting-SSG.txt
Daily updates of regions: Hit https://www.cv-helios.net/cvmisc3.html for daily updates!
The 13 rot. average for solar cycle 25 now supersedes cycles 23 and 24,
while 6 rot. average already supersedes cycles 23 and 24 and very close to cycle 22.
A total of 1171 regions this cycle per end December 2024 (552 regions North and 619 regions South).
At the same time solar cycle 24 produced 876 regions (401 north and 475 south).
Latest prediction indicate maximum is beginning of August 2025.
Northern hemisphere may even have had its maximum in November 2023!.
We see a fairly flat maximum where spring and summer 2025 may have max.-activity. Updates will come.
We reckon there have passed 1847 days of the new cycle by this issue by 15 November 2024.

Investigating the Solar Flux 10,7 cm/2800 MHz:
The count of number of days the Solar Flux adjusted 1AU have passed treshold of 200:
The year 2024 is now ranked on 10th place of years where the measured flux have passed 200.
Number of days it has done so are now 129.
This has not happened since year 1991 (184 days)!

Reports of aurora borealis also appears, and we look forward to what the lights may contain!

It seems that Maximum for the Northern hemisphere occurred 05 November 2023!
(Southern hemisphere Maximum expected 10 September 2025).

Supergroups-catalogue:
CV-Helios Network is currently working on a catalogue with drawings or photos
of the, currently 863 sunspot regions that exceeded 1000 mvh
in the period of RGO-USAF tables, that is, from 1874 to the current year.

Drawings or photos will be collected from the archives of wellknown different observatories!
Hopefully this catalogue will be published in 2025!  Stay tuned!
