#Weekly Highlights and Forecasts

Highlights of Solar and Geomagnetic Activity 05 - 11 April 2021

Solar activity was very low throughout the period with only B-class flare activity observed. No Earth-directed CMEs were observed in available imagery.

No proton events were observed at geosynchronous orbit.

The greater than 2 MeV electron flux at geosynchronous orbit was at normal to moderate levels during the period.

Geomagnetic field activity was at quiet levels on 05-06 April and

08-11 April. Unsettled to G1 (Minor) storm conditions were observed on 07 April due to positive polarity CH HSS effects.

Forecast of Solar and Geomagnetic Activity

12 April - 08 May 2021

Solar activity is expected to be at very low levels during the

Monthly graph

News March 2021

Solar activity is still nearly at standstill in this phase of the new solar cycle 25.

During March 2021 we saw 7 active sunspot regions and mostly were quite small and not very noteworthy.

At last we see some activity in the northern hemisphere, and in fact, 4 regions were at North, and 3 regions in the south.

The most active region was AR 2810 at N18 307 rot. 2242 that reached 200 mvh on 18th March. All three regions reached class H or C during their surface appearance.

The highest CV-activity was on the 24th.

The expected rise in activity goes slowly but marginally better than solar cycle 24 at the same time.

It is also expected that activity will come to fairly high levels around the first onset of this solar cycle, and that might commence at the end of this year.

Introducing MIF2021

Attached please find a link to the recently developed MIF version 2021. The address of the file ishttp://www.cv-helios.net/mif2021.xlsx

The MIF2021 is password protected for CV-Helios Network usersand to prevent spam to enter into the dat-files from non-members.

The file is password protected. See your email containing this issue. If you choose to download the file to your computer, then you may preferably want to save the file without a password.

The intention of the MIF2021 is to try and make it easier for CV-observers to be able to convert Zürich/McIntosh-classifications into CV and that

is summed up for each day.

New in this file is you can enter CV-number/name, Month, Year, Observing method. In addition you must select Time Zone and Daylight Saving Time.In this manner you can enter your local time, while the UTC time will show on your data.

Your emailadress and telescopic data must be filled out manually. See help-file.

When submission is done, you may choose to print the form which has been setup as black and white print. All yellow fields are unprotected, so that data can be deleted and ready for next submission.

Please note that if you already have a good system that works well for you, you are NOT obliged to use MIF2021!

We wish you all lots of sunny days, happy observing and good luck in trying out the new MIF2021!
