Remote controlled PC
As of 6th March 2008, the Weather Display program was set as
"Launch at Windows Startup", the logon screen at
Windows XP was set as no-logon and the Bios was enabled to reboot
computer upon power set to remote controlled zone.
This enables me as the user to remote control, i.e. firstly an
sms "off" power message to that zone, secondly an sms
"on" power message to the zone, resulting in the WD
program to be up and run again within a few minutes.
This was done due to several outputs of power or the program
stopping of mostly unknown causes during 2007/2008.
Advantage: WD program may run and the loss of weather data is set
to a minimum since data-run is frequently checked and at least
once a day.
Disadvantage: Power output due to electrical, thunder storms,
etc., may cause damage to computer, - hence the computer will
then have to be switched off.
